About Us

Nashville Family Foot Care has been providing caring and compassionate Podiatric services to the Nashville community for over 26 years. Our Doctors of Podiatric Medicine are on the staff of both Centennial Medical Center and St Thomas Midtown (formerly Baptist) Hospitals. All of our physicians are well trained, friendly, compassionate and highly committed to providing YOU with the best possible care.

Richelle D. Day, DPM

Dr. Richelle Day is designated by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery as a Certified Podiatric Surgeon and is also a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, a member of the American and Tennessee Podiatric Medical Association. She is also a founding partner of Nashville Family Foot Care and has been providing podiatric services in the Nashville area for over 26 years.

Dr. Day completed her podiatric training at the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, IA where she graduated with a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine in 1994. Prior to that, her undergraduate studies were conducted at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville ,TN where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Dr. Day completed her Podiatric Medical and Surgical Residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Department of Orthopaedics/Podiatry Services.

The focus of Dr. Richelle Day’s practice is the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers and she is committed to serving her patients by preventing complications that can arise from these complex cases. Dr. Day also serves as a consultant at the Craig Center for Advanced Wound Healing at St Thomas Midtown Hospital, and she volunteers her services at diabetic screening events held at Faith Family Medical Center.

Dr. Day enjoys spending time with her family and is very involved in her daughters' school and extracurricular activities.

Michele J. Whittaker, DPM

Michele J. Whittaker, DPM is Board Certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, the Tennessee Podiatric Medical Association and the American Diabetes Association.

Dr. Whittaker received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Illinois State University in 1988. She graduated in 1994 from the College of Podiatric Medicine & Surgery at Des Moines University with a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine, and completed her residency at Podiatry Hospital of Pittsburgh, PA in 1997.

The focus of Dr. Whittaker’s practice is diabetic wound care as well as general podiatric conditions such as ingrown toenails, heel pain and routine diabetic foot care. In addition to seeing patients in the office, she is on the staff at Centennial Hospital and St. Thomas Midtown Hospital. Dr. Whittaker also serves as a consultant at the Craig Center for Wound Healing.

Outside of the office, Dr. Whittaker enjoys running (she completed two half marathons), being outdoors, and spending time with her husband and daughter.

Nicholas A. Fussell, DPM

Nicholas A. Fussell, DPM is Board Qualified with the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is also a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Tennessee Podiatric Medical Association.

Dr. Fussell received his Bachelor of Science in Anthropology and Combined Sciences from Santa Clara University, CA in 2007. He then completed his podiatric training at Des Moines University’s College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, graduating with a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine in 2012. Following this, Dr. Fussell completed a comprehensive forefoot and rearfoot three-year surgical residency at the VA Hospital of Madison, WI in 2016.

The focus of Dr. Fussell's practice includes reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, as well as diabetic wound care. He places a strong emphasis on patient education and preventative care. In addition to the Nashville office, Dr. Fussell has privileges at TriStar Centennial Medical Center and St.Thomas Midtown Hospital. Dr. Fussell actively treats patients at the Craig Center for Wound Healing at St Thomas Midtown Hospital.

Outside of the office, Dr. Fussell enjoys spending time with his wife and their shared interest in the arts. He is also an avid outdoorsman and motorcyclist.

 

Whitney K. Johnson, DPM

Whitney K. Johnson, DPM

Whitney K. Johnson is Board Qualified with the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery and the Tennessee Podiatric Medical Association.

Dr. Johnson received a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2015 and received her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA in 2019. She completed a comprehensive forefoot and rearfoot three-year surgical residency at Chestnut Hill Hospital in Philadelphia in 2022.

In addition to the office, Dr. Johnson is on staff at TriStar Centennial Medical Center and St. Thomas Midtown Hospital. Her practice includes forefoot and rearfoot/ankle surgery as well as diabetic wound care and treatment of generalized podiatric conditions. As a former gymnast and Division I collegiate diver, Dr. Johnson has a special interest in the treatment of sports related injuries.

When she’s not in the office, Dr. Johnson is an avid reader and can often be found browsing through local bookstores to find her next read!
